Ding Dong: Avon Calling

Whilst browsing the internet earlier in search of inspirational Avon blogs; I came across a blog which outlined what they believed to be “The five biggest mistakes made by Avon Reps”.

To be fair; these are only mistakes in the authors opinion, but I couldn’t help but pick out mistake number three: ‘Wearing Avon Products’... The author claims that wearing the products (which you’re trying to sell) is the worst marketing technique because, in all their time as a Rep; they were never asked about their make-up or fragrance.

Slightly fathomed by this; I spoke to one of my clients & asked her for her thoughts:
She said: Wearing the products you’re selling is an effective marketing technique, because by doing so, people can see the products in their full glory & if you’re wearing something which they like, they can purchase their own.

In my experience; people often ask me about my make-up; nail polish & on a number of occasions I’ve been asked about the fragrance I’m wearing... & so I have to say, in my personal opinion: NOT wearing the products which you’re trying to sell, would be the biggest mistake that a representative could make...

What have you got your eye on?

Daily Skincare Regime(s)

Firstly, I apply the Avon Clearskin: Invigorating face scrub - To use: '...massage onto a wet face...'
I've just started using this product & I seem to be getting on with it very well; especially when I'm feeling tired; it leaves my skin feeling clean & refreshed - the eucalyptus in the product gives me a bit of a boost; in fact I would say that it 'gives me a zing'...

Alternatively; another effective product which I have been using is: Avon Solutions Winter Collection - Fabulously Clean Cleanser '...gentle foaming cleansing cream, enriched with silk fibre peptide & provitam B5...' Unlike the scrub, the cleanser can be used on a daily basis as a facial wash.

Whether you use a cream cleanser or a foaming wash, it's always a good idea to use a skin toner after cleansing. The Avon Solutions Plus+ Maximum Moisture Hydrating Toner. When using a cream cleanser; the toner is a great back up for removing the last bits of dirt from your skin, additionally, it helps remove blackheads & close pores.

In the morning; I apply Avon Solutions Winter 'Enjoy The Day' Cream & in the evening following my make-up removal I apply Avon Solutions Winter Nourishing Night Cream...

The Solutions Winter Collection includes everything which your skin needs to beat the effects of winter:

The day cream includes SPF15; Bvitamins & Spanish lavender extract claims to immediately boost skins moisture levels by 151%. The night cream is enriched with rice bran oil & provitaminB5, it claims to make your skin look healthier within a week.

After 2 weeks, I can say that my skin is looking clearer, feeling refresed & it's very soft. Additionally, I think it's important to spend some time on yourself; this only takes a few minutes a day, but it's time well spent.

Smokey Eyes Or Neutral Eyes?

I’m currently working on a print feature about body adornments & so I was wondering whether or not people prefer smokey eye make-up, or neutral eye make-up... if you could please comment below with your thoughts, I’d really appreciate it ^___^

Thank you,

Avon: A Cruelty Free Company

On June 2nd 1989, Avon became the first major cosmetics company to announce a permanent end to animal testing on all Avon-manufactured products.

'Avon: The Company For Women’ : The funds & donations which Avon receive through the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade are only donated to programs & services which help women directly...
Avon do not fund cruel &/or irrelevant animal research.

Taken from their website:

Avon is known for its leading efforts to eliminate animal testing. On June 2, 1989, Avon became the first major cosmetic company to announce a permanent end to animal testing on all Avon-manufactured products.

In place of animal testing, our safety evaluation process utilizes data from in-vitro tests (test tube/cell culture) or clinical tests (on human volunteers), and references existing animal-testing data.

Avon does not conduct animal testing on any of its products or raw ingredients and does not require that suppliers of raw ingredients and finished products produced for Avon conduct animal testing on our behalf.

Avon will conduct animal testing when required by law, at the request of government health or medical authorities, and only after having first attempted to persuade the requesting authority to accept non-animal test data.

Avon partners with other cosmetic companies to identify and develop new testing alternatives. Similarly, Avon is a long-time supporter of research into alternatives conducted by the Fund for the Replacement of Animals in Medical Experiments (FRAME) in the United Kingdom and the Center for Alternatives to Animal Testing at Johns Hopkins University in the United States.

Ongoing research on new/existing alternative methods is conducted by scientists in our Cell Biology and In Vitro Toxicology Laboratory at our Global Research and Development Center in Suffern, New York.

✿ Product Ingredients Page ✿

Over the past week or so I have been umming & arring about whether or not I should introduce a ‘Products Ingredients Page’... I’ve had a few people who for various reasons have enquired about the ingredients of the products which I review & so I’ve decided to ask for your thoughts...

If I were to introduce a ‘Product Ingredients Page’ would this be of use &/or interest to you?

Please let me know your thoughts;

Avon MagiX Face Perfector - SPF 20

Make up primers; specifically foundation primers are becoming more popular, with more & more brands catching onto the idea... In short, their purpose is to prepare the face for a longer lasting make up effect.

In the past, it has been recognised that you should moisturise prior to applying foundation, followed by either a loose or a pressed powder, to create the finished effect.

Face Primers give the added bonus of smoothing out imperfections; such as open pores &/or fine lines. In addition to this; face primers propose to keep your make up on for longer & so, should be beneficial to all age groups.

For the past couple of months; I’ve been curious to try a face primer... My UDPP is a god send; my eyeshadow’s survived tears; eyebrow waxing, tidal wave, foam parties & even those nights where I’ve forgotten to remove my make-up - the idea that something could have the same benefits for my entire face seems too good to be true, but this is not the case...

As an Avon representative; I had the opportunity to order the Beauty Icons Kit, prior to Campaign 15... I was pleased that this kit included Avon’s MagiX Face Perfector...

Taken from the Avon Site:

Light-as-air gel-powder gives you a naturally flawless look, keeping shine away for up to 10 hours* Skin looks brighter and feels ultra-soft with pores and fine lines visibly smoothed*. Wear alone to help skin look its natural, radiant best or smooth it on, then blend on your foundation for the ultimate professional finish. SPF20.
30ml

On Friday night, I applied the Face Primer as directed by the packaging... “Apply over face and blend evenly, use alone or under foundation” - You need to let the Primer settle before applying foundation, it only takes a few minutes... Once I applied the rest of my make up, I went out for the evening...

A number of people commented on my makeup throughout the evening & I have to say that by the time I’d taken it off, just after midnight everything was still in place...

I have a terrible habit of touching my chin & resting my face on my hand... it’s usually pretty obvious as my make up comes off, however, since using the primer over this weekend, I’ve not had the same trouble.

Obviously, it’s an added expense - but it’s definitely something worth investing in - even if you don’t choose to use it every day there are always occasions when you need your make-up to last that extra mile...

~ Avon: Footworks - Cherry Review ♥

Having had a busy week on my feet; feeling tired & blistered I felt it the ideal opportunity to try out Avon’s Footworks Cherry Ice Collection. In addition to using the products, I used my foot spa; it’s certainly not essential as you could just as easily use these treatments sat on the edge of the bath, or using a washing up bowl with warm water... remember to have a towel handy.

I started with the Footworks Cherry Ice Exfoliating Scrub
Normally £4.50, currently on offer for £1.80

“...This scrub, containing cherry extract, helps sweep away dry skin
to leave feet feeling softer and smoother...”

Following this, I applied the Footworks Cherry Ice Moisturising Lotion
Normally £4.50, currently on offer for £1.80

“...This non-greasy cream provides 24 hour moisture for your feet,
leaving skin feeling velvety soft...”
The final product I used was the Footworks Cherry Ice Cooling Foot Spray
Normally £4.50, currently on offer for £1.8

“...Help revive and cool tired feet with this quick
drying deodorising spray with cherry extract...”

My overall opinion: I really enjoyed using these products; they left my feet feeling refreshed, smelling lovely & most importantly, feeling silky soft... The cherry scent is fresh & not overpowering & the routine only takes a few minute, so it’s definitely something which I’m going to be keeping up... The packaging of these products aids their application; the scrub & the moisturising lotion are in squeezy tubes & the cooling foot spray is in a misting bottle, so there’s no fussing... just apply the products & enjoy.

I seriously recommend investing in these products, it’s easy to neglect your feet, but when they’re feeling lovely, it makes the world of difference...

Have you got any Avon Footworks products which you’d recommend?

Pixee
